Students Leadership
The student council is headed by a student council president/Chairperson. He is assisted by two deputies and other Captains/secretaries. The team is carefully selected by students and approved by the members of staff. The chosen members of students’ council are students of impeccable discipline and of good moral standing. They aid in smooth running of the schools’ operations.
A student council serves as the voice for an entire student body and actively works with teachers and advisors to promote a better learning environment. Within the school curriculum, one of the key areas making up the ‘Learning for Life and Work’ theme is active participation.
Students’ councils have a number of roles, among them include: being role models in the school, and maintaining the standard of discipline. Majorly they are the custodians of the school’s values and mission, ensuring that every student upholds them. They also represent the school at national and international events and are expected to be role models for their peers.
Apart from the school-wide leadership roles, students can also take up leadership positions at the class level. Each class has a class captain who is responsible for organizing class activities and ensuring that there is cooperation among the students. Class captains are expected to be proactive, creative, and able to create an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and appreciated.
To prepare students for leadership roles, Gideons Elite Boys offers various leadership training programs. Students participate in leadership conferences, seminars, and workshops to develop skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making. These programs aim to build confidence in students, enhance their leadership abilities, and prepare them for future leadership roles in school, career and society.
The council usually reports a day before the actual opening day for leadership training and empowerment. They are trained on good leadership, public speaking and relations, teamwork through team building and conflict resolutions and management.
