Prefects/Students Council
Jackson Brown Jr. says that talent without discipline is like an octopus on a roller-skates; there is plenty of movement but you never know if it is going to be forward, backwards or sideways. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment and we are not afraid to speak the common-sense truth: you cannot have high standards without discipline and this is a clear indication that students of Gideons Elite Boys are disciplined and this is attributed to the presence of a prefects’ body which is God fearing and prayerful.
The prefects are usually selected through a rigorous exercise due to their competence, diligence and commitment to upholding discipline. It is a representative of the students’ body and it embodies the best qualities the school has to offer. It has been bestowed with the responsibility of ensuring discipline. It is a bridge between the students and the administration. it channels the students’ welfare to the school administration unfavorably and unconditionally.
It is a team that is selected based on academic performance. The body is able to discharge its duties to the best of its abilities due to the unwavering support from the school administration. The administration also trains the prefects for professionalism in handling the students’ issues. We are forever grateful for the school for giving opportunity to serve in this great school. We strive to surpass the Class of 2023 performance in their final examinations.
We urge the students to study harder and beat the feat achieved by this lot. We thank the school administration for keenly addressing our issues and ensuring that our stay in this school is comfortable and meaningful.
if you want to see where a person’s life is heading, look at their closest associations. This is because your close friends will influence your attitudes, beliefs, your relationship with your family and even how successful you become.
The size of your thinking, your goals, your attitudes, and your very personality is formed by your environment. Prolonged association with negative people makes us think negatively; close contact with petty individuals develops petty habits in us.
Companionship with people with big ideas raises the level of our thinking: close contact with ambitious people gives us ambition. The person you are today, your personality, ambitions, present status in life, are largely the result of your physical environment. The person you will be in one, two, five, ten, or twenty years from now depends almost entirely on your present environment.
Friends always have vested interests in you. They can hold you back, edge you, or discourage and encourage your efforts. They can influence the relationship you have with others through their outlook which they will pass onto you.
‘It is said that a river wears out a rock through constant but gradual pressure. The same applies to the effect of our friendship and no one is as invincible to the social influence of peers as they may imagine.’
